The HZ Sandman panel van, with its 4.2 litre (253 cubic inch) V8 engine and GTS trim continued the run of popularity already established with younger Holden buyers. The van's attraction lay mainly in its combination of performance and versatility; ideal for surfing, touring and camping trips. The Sandman became a cult vehicle of the 1970's, probably causing more than a few parental grey hairs along the way.
