 Bob Forbes teamed up with Kevin Bartlett in the number 10 Holden A9X Torana for the 1978 Bathurst 1000. They were able to position themselves in 12th place on the starting grid for the Great Race with a qualifying lap time of 2:27.3. Running strong until trouble struck the Forbes / Bartlett entry was a further 27 laps down from the winner. This meant Forbes and Bartlett finished the race with only 136 of the 163 laps completed, finishing in position 22.
