1:18 ExactDetail Replicas 1968 'Sea Terror' Silver with Black Stripes Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 - WCC224 On September 12, 1966, a legend was born. On that day, the Chevrolet Motor Division unveiled a completely new car, the Camaro. Already destined for serious contention in the "pony car" V-8 wars, the Camaro would quickly evolve into much, much more. The Z-28 option was the high point of that evolution. With a high-revving 302 cubic inch small block, coupled to a Muncie close-ratio four speed transmission, the Z-28 was a natural for the stiff competition in the Stock Eliminator categories of all three drag racing sanctioning bodies. The Sea Terror 1968 Z-28 Camaro, owned by Don Walker and sponsored by Rockville Chevrolet, Rockville, Maryland, was one of many "Z-cars" to head right to the strip from the showroom floor. Sea Terror first took Eastern drag strips by storm in 1968 and was soon turning in some surprising numbers. In June of 1969, racing in E/Stock, the Sea Terror set a national record with a 12.01 e.t. at 114.94 miles per hour during a Division 1 points race at York US 30 Dragway in Thomasville, Pensnsylvania. Later that season the Sea Terror became the first "stock" Camaro to break into the eleven second bracket...and it did this during the 97-degree heat with all stock GM Performance parts. In 1970, its final year of racing, the Sea Terror held the F/Stock record and was noted as the fastest '68 Z-28 racers - among them Dave Strickler and Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins - the Sea Terror ruled the Stock Eliminator classes. In its short two year racing career, the little 'Z' set many milestones and was a feared and respected competitor wherever it raced. Today, the car is still in the Walker family, and it looks just like it did 36 years ago...ready to race and ready to win. Like all of its counterparts, the Sea Terror Z-28 has a rich performance and racing heritage, just one amazing facet of a highly collectable car that was a legend from its first day of existence.
