1962 saw the first visit to Australia of the internationally famous precision driving team, The Canadian Hell Drivers. And the car entrusted to perform their demonstrations of precision driving and daredevil stunts was no other than the Holden EK Special sedan.

The anticipation grew for young boys and their dads as the news spread that the Hell Drivers were coming to town. Shows were sold out weeks in advance and even today, stories abound as to how those unfortunate enough not to be able to get tickets were still able to sneak into their local showground and take a glimpse at the never before witnessed skills of the Hell Drivers team.

Some of these showgrounds were fairly rough by today's standards, with just a dirt circumference track, dingy lighting and little or no fencing that all added to the excitement and thrills and spills of the show.

The highlight of the show was undoubted the shooting of an EK sedan out of a cannon that topped off a "thrill a minute" feast of stunts and auto fury.

This limited edition Trax set recaptures the spirit of these early shows when times were simple and resources and technology were limited for such events...especially when compared to the modern era. But, are they any better today?
