In October 1953, Holden's original 48/215 was replaced by the legendary FJ model. Changes were peripheral rather than dramatic, with the FJ retaining the six-cylinder, 2.2 litre engine and three-speed column change gearbox. Power remained at 60bhp (45kW), developed at 3800rpm. The most obvious external changes were the restyled grille and badge, an air-vent between the bonnet and windscreen and the distinctive pointed tail lamp mounted on the boot lid.
