Un-like the rest of Holden's new HJ Range, the one tonner carried on the same body shape was predecessor, the sturdy Aluminium tray was an original factory option supplied by Alcan
The HQ One Tonner had been one of the most anticipated and best received models in Trax history, so the prospect of producing a second series with a brighter, more diverse range of colours was not to be missed.
Announced in early 2005, the HJ 'Tonner' was identical in virtually every respect to the HQ - because that's the way Holden made them. Most significantly different were the door mirrors that moved from their odd vertical configuration to a horizontal shape. Mirrors have always been an issue with these models due to the difficulty in producing a mounting in close to correct scale that isn't prone to breakage. Fortunately the new Code J packaging easily accommodated the wider dimensions of the HJ as the horizontal mirrors imply would not have fitted into the previous window box. Just like the real car, detail changes were also made to the interior trim.
The colours chosen for the HJ tray backs were Jamaican Lime and very striking Warrigal Black - the black version also featuring the very unusual option of a white interior.
