This is a special charity edition of the 1940's Chevrolet Blitz Fire Fighting Wagon in a diorama setting with two fire fighter figurines.

This amazing vehicle was originally designated CMP (Canadian Military Pattern) and was designed and built in North America to equip Allied troops during World War II. It came with 4 wheel drive, a power take off point to drive other equipment, and a choice of either Ford or Chevrolet engines and power trains. Its big wheels and heavy tyres made it an all terrain worker. The 'Blitz' was shipped unassembled in huge crates to many countries and the Australian Government bought large quantities to equip its armed forces. It served in many forms in many theatres of war with distinction and when the war ended the Government had large numbers of surplus 'Blitz' wagons, some still in crates ready for assembly. Industry was rebuilding and transport and service vehicles were sorely needed. At this time Australia produced few local trucks and imports were strictly limited. The surplus Blitz Wagons were quickly snapped up and assembled in many forms. Some of these are still in use nearly 60 years later. Many bush fire brigades obtained a blitz chassis and local handymen and helpers fitted tanks, pumps and bits and pieces to create a long serving fire fighting truck that could go into the roughest territory.
