Veteran Cars is a survey of the formative years of motoring, the fital period when cars were transformed from horseless carriages into a practical means of transport. Author F. Wilson McComb recalls the horse-drawn vehicles which were the pattern for the pioneer car designers, their development of suitabel power units, and their often stumbling progress in the evolution of self-propelled road vehicles. He also traces the growth of the motor industry during the period when it surprisingly quickly became an important factor in the economies of many countries.
